I'm considering commuting to work (~15 km each way) and looking at a carrera virtuoso as a 1st road bike. I need to guarantee my laptop is safe though so what should I be looking at? I would need to get a pannier and an appropriate bag to fit on this right? What do you suggest? I'd have the laptop and lunch box in the bag

Does it have to be a pannier, would a backpack do? (Showers at work being important if you're using a backpack)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't see eyelets for a rear rack on that bike.

If not, you can probably put on a rack using P Clips (also available through Halfords), but I'm not sure if I'd trust them to support a pannier bag with laptop, depending on the weight of the laptop.

There's showers in work so a backpack is an option but for comfort I'd rather not use one. That's a problem if I can't fit a proper rack.

This is an older version, but... http://www.bikeradar.com/road/gear/category/bikes/mountain/product/review-carrera-virtuoso-09-34691

"There are fittings and room for mudguards, and the rear stays have carrier rack mounts as well. There’s only one set of eyelets at the dropouts, though, so both rack and mudguard would have to share these; if this is the case, put the rack legs next to the frame."
