    Hi,
I own a 2006 Ford Focus 1.6l TDCI - 98K Miles. I've had it for approx 2 years (private sale) and there has been a catalog of issues with it, right now turbo blown and it is running on low power mode due to engine management light indicating DPF issue again - I have a scanner that is throwing up codes - P0324 / P0224 / P2459
I've spent best part of €2K either maintenance (main dealer) or trying unsuccessfully resolving the DPF issue
My local mechanic has no time for these engines - like most reviews I read.
My options as I see it are
Trade into a Ford dealer and take whatever they offer - even if they want to take it
or - Replace the engine (and remove the DPF),
I'm not averse to replacing the engine if I thought that would work and I could get a guarantee, the car itself is in very good condition just the engine issues, is replacing engine a realistic option would it cure the issues I've been having - what would ball park cost of replacing an engine be and/or what engine should I get?

    Thanks
    LMK

Could you not just replace the turbo with a new or recon and get the dpf completly removed or is there some reason why the whole engine has to be replaced.

If turbo could be guaranteed I'd do that but AFAIK thats difficult to do with these engines
