going solo to galway

    heading to salthill in 6 weeks for a family trip, so iv decided to cycle it and meet the clan down
    whats the best route to take? maynooth direction or naas direction

    follow the old road parallel to the motorway, its pretty flat, its very boring, a lot of hedges and hard shoulder, its gets kinda nice toward athenry and beyond

    Maynooth, Lexlip, Kinnegad, Athlone, Ballinasloe, Athenry, Galway, Salthill - runs parallel to the motorway so theres not much traffic.

    I'd avoid the Naas road by bike, in either direction , if possible.

    Horrible road to cycle along. Traffic moving very fast and hard shoulders full of metal debris.
