D3100 to 60D?

After getting my first D3100 back last December, i'm starting to find the D3100 a bit limited. Mainly for the lack of a drive motor limiting me to AF-S lenses, senseless limitations like no metering for non-CPU lenses and the so-so video recording.

Would a Canon 60D make sense as the next "step" so to speak? Are there any better alternatives around? Nikon or Canon, i'm not fussy. An FX camera would be nice but the cheapest full frames I can find are €1000+ which is a bit out of my price range.

d7000/d7100 if you are staying nikon... or even a 600d/650d on canon would do you.
