Going back to what we had circa 1997 then...

Well, the original TLC wasn't on Cablelink, but yeah, I'm not sure why they are reviving a brand long gone from the UK.

Its a very different 'TLC' to the original station

That poor 500 section. With 507 gone that leaves just 6 random channels up there.

I know Horizon is meant to remove the need for numbers, but this again rises the need for UPC to fix those groupings.

I'd say move all the discovery and learning channels to 500s giving 200s back to news. Or vice versa.

Yeah, it certainly isn't "The Learning Channel" anymore and won't be a patch on the original. Sounds like more reality tripe. The original TLC was one of my favourites.

Great, just what we need. More non-discovery, non-history programs on the Discovery/ History channels. -40 IQ points

According to this article TLC will launch in the Entertainment section, 125 on Sky (currently Challenge) and 167 on Virgin TV (currently S4C)

Regarding the 500's - it's suppose to be the Lifestyle section, although E! is an Entertainment channel and ID is a News & Doc channel. That leaves only Food Network, Home and Fashion TV as the only real Lifestyle channels for the 500's. But I can understand why QVC is there

Regarding the 200's - News channels could be 201-220 and Documentaries could be from 221 onwards

    113 ?? replacing E4+1

The 'new' Home&Health is the Realtime replacement on Sky - no word if this will reappear on UPC

Yes not impressed with E4+1 moving. To where is not sure yet. It's my preference to have +1 channels beside their parent.

As of this morning on UPC - TLC has replaced Realtime on 507 and Home & Health has replaced Travel & Living

Perhaps it may change at 8pm.

According to the Indo it's 113.

That's a strange one, very high in the EPG

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 471 ✭✭Bodan

The EPG needs a general re-shuffle as it is a bit of a mess in some places. The 500's is perfect for TLC, surrounded by mostly women stations already, like E, Fashion tv , qvc , food etc. it is a natural fit.

Now that real time is gone , i hope UPC will think of adding Discovery Shed.

When did Discovery get put on to analogue? Actually can't remember if it was in the era of TLC timesharing or not, seeing as I've mostly been in ex-CMI land.

Launched in 1989, fed via 27.5 west. It started timesharing with TLC in 1992. Both channels moved to Astra 1C in 1993/94. According to Wikipedia, Discovery moved first and wasn't timeshared with TLC on Astra until 1994.

TLC never was. Discovery was fairly late, 2001 maybe? It replaced National Geographic.

TLC has now moved from 507 to 121(old Gold+1/ITV3) slot.

Had hoped Watch would one day make an appearance there....(rumours about Irish opt outs etc)

    It was 2001

I remember complaining about it to UPC at the time. They said they had received a lot of complaints. Only got it back myself this year. That's 12 years without it.

Looks like since the move to channel 121, TLC is available on the Value Pack. If I'm not mistaken it was only available on the Max pack
