My friend used to live in Co.Meath but is now living in Belfast for the past 10 years.
She has her own UK national insurance number etc but recently received a tax return form12 for 2012(think its a PAYE) to her parents address where she use to live to fill out with her old RSI number on it.
She never received anything from them before in the past 10 years til now
Whats wrong with the revenue anyway, she said she is just going to ignore it and said let them sort out their own mistakes but I told her to ring them up. Would be best I think to contact them.

What makes her think Revenue made a mistake? Clearly Revenue were not informed that she had left the jurisdiction.

Revenue regularly send tax forms to people to whom they would not normally send them. The purpose of this is to ensure the taxpayer is compliant.

Your friend can chose to ignore the correspondence, but that would be a very short term decision and not a wise one.

She should return the form to Revenue with a covering letter stating that she has left the jurisdiction and has no income arising in the Republic, and that'll be the end of it.

ok its just she has not got anything in 10 years from them until now, but what really could the revenue do to her when she lives in another jurisdiction?
just wondering if the Revenue checked this RSI of hers would it not give them her full details of her national insurance number etc,

I assume when you refer to an RSI number you are talking about her Republic of Ireland PPS number. If so, why would the Irish authorities know anything about her UK details (national insurance number etc) as they are two separate countries.
If a form 12 tax return has issued to her, then she must complete it and return it to Revenue. She could attach a cover letter explaining her situation and getting her record updated.

As she is living in NI outside the state she WOULD NOT have to complete Form12 as it does not apply to her, all she needs to do is send it back with a note explaining she is no longer in the jurisdiction.
    Is that correct?
