    I am just wondering if anybody knows how long a spouse is entitled to use her married name after the decree of divorce has been granted?

    Case in point ; Spouse is issued a (part)settlement cheque 12 months after the divorce has been granted in her maiden name and is requesting to have the cheque re-issued in her married name "because her bank account is in that name".

    Just wondering if anybody has come across this

    As long as the spouse wants. The name is acquired by usage not by marriage, so the decrere of divorce has no effect on the name.
