try fast stone image viewer if you don't want to shell out on lightroom; it's quick and free.

For easy, no learning curve Picasa 3.
I have it but plan on changing to Lightroom for it's much, much, much, much extra capabilities

+1 for lightroom. Adobe have just released the Lightroom 5 beta which you should be able to download for free to get a feel for the software. I was using Picassa 3 for a good while until a friend of mine put m onto lightroom around the time of the LR4 beta release which got me hooked.

It's free. That's the only good thing about Gimp.

What specifically do you dislike about it?

I suppose that was a bit unfair, I just never really got on with it and didn't find it intuitive, but that's just me..

Personally, 'free' is the only reason I would choose it over any other photo editor, given the option.

Well, if you're going to copy Photoshop at least put everything in sensible locations. Why, for example, would anyone lump curves and levels under the nebulous 'colour tools'? Below is Photoshop on the left and GIMP on the right. See how the various adjustments are grouped in Photoshop? Curves and levels etc. are grouped together while colour adjustments like Hue/Saturation and Colour Balance are also grouped. In GIMP they're all just buried in one vague menu. Sloppy design like this can make GIMP a chore to use.

The GIMP is a serviceable editor but it's still got a lot of rough edges and performance issues.

Of course I'm being harsh, it's free after all.

I agree that GIMP is not one bit pleasant to use compared to photoshop, but on the topic of this thread go with lightroom it's really the best option except for the price.

I use Picassa for my editing and then I have a free version of CS2 Photoshop that I downloaded from the Adobe website for putting my logos on pics.

Another +1 for Lightroom. Aside from the photo management and editing, I also think the book and print features are excellent for ease of use.
