Just wondering has anyone been to Kenya or Tanzania for a safari? We're getting married in September and thinking of going for a week before heading back to Southern Europe.

Would love to if anyone has been and what they thought?

I would recommend doing a safari in Tanzania (either the Serengeti or one of the big national parks) then take the short trip out to Zanzibar (google images it!) and spend a week at a beach resort there. You'll get to see amazing wildlife and see the countryside, but safari is also tiring so Zanzibar can be your chill out, relaxing time. Gorgeous white sands, clear blue ocean, blazing sun and wonderful friendly people. It's also quite cheap.

Hope you have a wonderful honeymoon!

honestly don't think a week is worth the expense, vaccinations, risk, hassle. safaris are also dirty and smelly.

I did the above as my honeymoon and absolutely loved it. However, the safari itself was 5 nights / 6days and it takes some time to get to your starting point for the safari.
If you give it the right amount of time you'll absolutely love it.

    There is no hassle:confused:
Dirty and smelly:confused: Shock horror animals smell.
Its a fabulous experience and if you don't head off expecting 5 star luxury you won't be disappointed.

I've been on one in Tanzania, and one in south africa. Both were fantastic. If you're on honeymoon, I'd splurge a bit if you can, and go for the smaller safari, rather than the larger groups. 6 people or less is ideal, plus a good guide. You can get very close to the animals with a small group. Maybe mix a walking safari with a driven one, great to follow tracks and that kind of thing.

And yes, animals smell alright. It's all part of the experience.
