I'd be grateful for any expert advise. This is down pipe from toliet.a new bend has been put on it, and I think that it might pool water etc.
Does anyone think this will work?   The pipe comes from the top left the sweeps right and then down.but it also continues right and up into and out of the roof.
having difficulty uploading a pic.i wil try again.

If I understand you correctly there should not be a problem with water pooling once the pipes are not horizontal. The pipe going upto the roof and out again is probably a vent pipe to prevent the build up of gases in the sewer. If I could see a picture I could could you a definite answer.

So I was standing on the ground looking up when I took the picture. The upstairs toliet is to the left. Waste enters, then travels across and then drops down towards the ground.but the way the pipe for extraction of gasses continues across and upwards... What's to stop waste going across there and pooling?

Simple answer to that is gravity and the sweep of the T to the down pipe

i would be a bit more concerned about the white wastes going into the boss thing [i think its called]they look suspect to me ,its only imo though cos i am not a plumber

I think the white ones will work ok,as it's only water.
Gravity, well I hope so. But there is an extra dimension in play.the velocity of the waste travelling down, then ,directed across(parallel to the floor).
If it has any momentum , it may continue travelling across.

i think i have been looking at the picture wrong,i thought this was in an attic looking down, but now it looks like an extension on to an original house :D

Does look odd salt and pepper. I took it standing on the ground looking up.the big long pipe is the waste pipe coming down.

It could have been installed a lot better than that to ensure that there will be nothing gathering on the vent side.
It is possible to rectify it without too much trouble if you wanted full peace of mind.
Or you could check the level of the
horizontal section of the vent (rhs of T connector and try to lift it slightly and keep in place with a bracket.

You say a new bend was added. What part of the pic are you referring to exactly? Looks like original work ( dunno why the vent pipe was not directed up from the main drop though )

Why is there a bend in the vent pipe?

Hi I assumed it was the typical layout you would see on the outside of a 2 storey house. Looking at the picture I understand your concern but I don't think there sholud be a problem even if the water over shoots the vertical pipe( highly unlikely) it will have to flow back again because it has no where else to go. If you are really worried get the connection changed so that the pipe on the left is lower than the one on the right or prop up the one on the right so that it slightly higher 3mm will do..From my experience I am 99.999% sure there won't be aproblem.

Probably ok but no reason why it should be like that. The T could have been installed with the vent in line of stack and then turn it wherever at a higher level. As installed, you could get a slow build up of deposits at the vent side of that T.

My question too. There must be some obstruction that we cannot see which prevented the VP from running straight up. It was more work to redirect it as it is.
