If you are not racing then have a serious look at these.

THe Zaffiro are a great tyre. Give a bit of a firm ride but for that price....nearly tempted to buy some myself for the winter.

    Great for Roscommon roads so.

For that price, i'll keep them as spares if they turn out to be crap. :D

thanks for the link, much appreciated.

Use parcel motel to get free delivery for planet x orders. There's a parcel motel depot in Casey's on the Athlone Road in Roscommon town and there's one in Kilmartain's in Athlone as well.

When you register you get €7 free credit so the first few deliveries are free.

Treads don't do anything useful on a road tyre until you get to about 200kph, at which point you have bigger problems.

Tyre treads do nothing on road surfaces that do not deform under the load of the tyre. Treads are only useful for clearing water from the road/tyre interface. Bike racing tyres with no tread pattern have a high enough pressure on the ground that they do not aquaplane at all at cycling speeds, so having tyres with a tread pattern in the wet is no real advantage on tarmac.

    I guess i've been told.

thanks for the info, learning something new everyday.

Changing the wheels turned out to be a nice learning experience. The back wheel can be a right **** to get back on. :D

My tips for working on the Back Wheel

.... wear disposable gloves to work with move chain & derailler
..... a trick here is to always move the chain onto the highest gear. Then you will know what cog to put the chain back on to.
... I find working with 3 x Tyre levers makes tyre removal easier.
... put some air back in Tube before you put back into tyre. prevents creases in tube and easier to slide in!

That's my tips. Not bad for a aul lad cycling for less than a year!!

Oh... and read Boards Cycling forum regularly and learn from the 'pro's'!

sorting the tube and tire is the easy part, getting it back in to where it needs to go is a bit more tricky.

hopefully don't have to do it again for a few months now.
