Hey, has anyone any tips on catching a magpie call bird, i do see the in tree near trap but wont come in.:mad:

Have you any bait in it?
I take it you didn't get a call bird off a friend to start you off!
If you can't get a bird, try making an artificial nest in the corner of a catching compartment, break an eggon the board on top of the trap, it's the glistening of the egg that attracts them.

Shoot a magpie. Prop him up in Larsen trap. Get a recording of a magpie and place a small speaker in the larsen trap. Will attract one handy....

I just caught 2 this morning, I have a call bird in the centre of the Larsen trap I feed dog food to the bird but it took a week to catch them I have just gave one away to a lad a few miles from me and the other is booked for Monday collection.keep trying but a call bird is a great help. remember to keep moving the birds to other places.and dont forget water and food and most of all shelter.

Does any of ye shoot them coming out of the nests there was 4 of us at it today an we shot 16 magpies an 2 grey crows.

yeah..trap was only out in my garden though.moving it monday morn to a sheep farm i think.

Yeah tryed everyting,nest,eggs,mirror,decoy magpie and ucaller,rabbit guts oony got me gray crows. not having a good year this year normally have plenty in by now.

Just got another 2 this evening moved the trap to a Farm we have a large Pen for the Phesants and the Famer has Sheep, left the trap at 12.00 and called back at 6.10pm 2 Magpies caught,:D:D

Lucky you,im still getting none, turned my attention to gray squirrels got 2 the last 2 days and added a seconded trap near it today, roll on tomorrow to see wat i get.
