Sony MDR ZX600 and iPod

I bought a set of Sony MDRZX600 headphones today and they sound good but the problem is that they are just too quiet when I use them with my iPod (160GB Classic). However when I plug them into my phone (Galaxy S2) the volume is pretty good on them. Is there any way to get them to play louder through the iPod or would I be better off just buying a 64GB micro sd for the phone and sticking as much of my music on it as I can?

Any recommendations? Any earphones I've had were always just plug and play so I dont really know much about this stuff.

i have this amplifier (I managed to kill the normal headphone output) and the sound quality is excellent.
I cant say if its much louder than your unit but some of the reviews do say that it is louder than their unit.
It runs off your ipod battery so a more elegant and compact solution than getting one requiring aa or aaa batteries

If you just want higher volumes and not really after better sound quality then go for something like above, FiiO E1 but there are better options. FiiO E5 or E6 are similar price but much better amps.
But if you are really want something better on the cheap consider something like I did (link). You can build your own or ask someone to build it for you. Much better sound quality than any entry level amp including FiiO mentioned above.

Yes better sound quality along with higher volume would be sweet. Though I do reckon that some songs will still sound a bit ropey due to being poor copies! I'd probably just buy one of the amps you recommended as I'd probably just end up making a balls of a homemade effort!!
