First time WWE are putting serious money behind developmental. Which is crazy considering how much other large corporations put into R&D and given the indies have been fairly tapped for talent at this stage too.

will they still be bringing guys in from the indie feds and teaching them to wrestle the "WWE way", or they going for purely homegrown stars. It seems like if WWE don't make you then you'll have a much harder time getting a push, ala Punk.

No idea to be honest. From what I've read Triple H has become more open minded about indy guys (likely by necessity). Currently it seems they are putting most of their recuitment powers into college athletes with the likes of Jim Ross and Gerry Briscoe attending events.

Johnny Ace when he was in charge was a fan of Apple's overall philosophy of a closed loop. Meaning employment wise a company recruits fresh out of school and then indoctrinates people into their way with a view of retaining them for life. Ace didn't have complete autonomy that view had to be shaped from the top down to him. meaning Vince McMahon and others along those who could influence those parties - Triple H for example. Triple H and Shawn Michaels flew down to Ohio Valley Wrestling for the first time ever a number of years ago when they were just wrestlers. About a month later the decision was made to axe OVW from developmental.

Isn't OVW used by TNA as a developmental territory now?

Unfortunately. The folks they've brought up from there for Gutcheck have been really mediocre.

    Yep.

OVW is famed for teaching the fundamentals of Wresting really well - Rob Terry has gotten a lot better and for running a fair number of weekly shows in towns every week. Whereas NXT do random towns and venues whenever they are able. NXT's predcessor FCW had a real hard time establishing a regular schedule of shows for the longest time. They would maybe have like 3 public shows a month in crappy bars and clubs. So you had wrestlers being called up to WWE without like experience of Wrestling in front of fans.

I guess it'd make more sense to train guys the "WWE way" from the get go, rather than have to re-educate (as they see it) guys who are more used to a certain style or multiple styles wrestling in various smaller feds.

I read that students will have to attend lectures on the history of the business also at the new facility. That's sounds like an excellent idea, make it a real Academy, a full on learning experience with theory as well as practice.

    WWE school would be awesome.

USA history teacher - The Iron Sheik

    Language teacher - Antonio Cesaro
    Geography teacher - Kofi Kingston
    Gym teacher - Pat Patterson

I wouldn't fancy being in the showers after gym class if Pat's in the vicinity. :pac:

Its amazing that since John Laurinitis took over as Executive Vice President of Talent Relations in 2004 only one guy I consider to be a main eventer has been signed - CM Punk and he got to the top very much in spite of Laurinitis. Compare that to JR who signed so many main eventers right up until he stepped down, most of whom credited JR as being a major influence. Of course there are other problems, but it suggests that it must be an important role.

I like Triple H has been doing so far though in a similar role.

That's a great idea, knowing the business you're going to be involved in would be a plus, it grates me that people are considered "marks" if they know the product, wrestlers included.

Jaysus any history syllabus written by the WWE would have to be updated every 6 months after they rewrite it again

They would need a new book everytime Hogan joined or left.

'He is a sad old man who betrayed Vince and could never wrestle in the first place.'

'He is an icon who built Wrestlemania with his own two pythons.'

That was a long period of turmoil with no champion until Randy Orton found the world title backstage at Summerslam 04 after it went missing at Wrestlemania 20.
