Swishing water sound coming from dashboard!

Swishing water sound coming from dashboard!

This morning I noticed that a swishing water sound appears to be coming from under the dashboard of my Citroen C5. I mainly notice it going around sharp corners or roundabouts – sounds just like water moving from one side of the dash to the other (seem to be more on the passenger side than the drivers side)! Any idea’s what it might be?? Thanks.

I had that in my old car and it turned out that the stopper things were full so just emptied them and it fixed it.

Follow the channels at the base of your windscreen and you'll probably find some drainage holes in the body work, check if they're blocked.

    Will try that - thanks.

For the life of me I can’t find any blocked drainage holes. This evening I noticed that the driver’s side foot well was wet so it appears that water is somehow getting into the car now (the car was parked up all day and it was raining pretty much the whole day)!..i’ve also noticed that water seems to be draining very slowly from somewhere above the front drivers wheel as on dry days I’ve noticed water under that wheel and have seen it drip down from the mud flap. Does anyone know where I’d find information on how to locate these drainage holes so that I can try unblocking them? Thanks.

Did you check your coolant? I had that exact noise and turned out there was a leak in the coolant tank. I put radwell in it and it sorted it

Taken from other peoples comments on the same problem ...

Under windscreen remove that grill or, without removing - get a solid cable (i`ve used a hose cable from my bicycle) and remove the mud cap which is blocking the drain hole on the passenger side till you reach out the ground behind the wheel.

I removed a couple of leaves from around the scuttle and bonnet hinges. The C5 has a number of extra holes around the bonnet hinges compared to the Xantia and although there were only a couple of leaves in there, removing what little was there stopped the carpets getting wet again.

    Hope that helps
