Can anyone point me in the direction of the requirements for working with kids ?

I've tried googling but cant get a definitive answer ..... is Garda clearance required for working with kids (supervised or unsupervised) ? are there any other requirements ?

I've applied for a job which will involve working with kids while their parent (s) are present and other adults will be present and I'm trying to find out if I can assist/speed things up by applying for garda clearance or any other things which I don't know about.

Ah yes...working with children...in Ireland...post Abuse scandals...Church land payment settlements...evacuation of many Religious Orders from even the hint of contact with children...and, you, dear soul, want to work with the Sacred Cow of Irish Society...our Precious, Precocious Children? Bless you! I thought about it, applied for it, qualified for it, and, finally, here, and in another Country, ran screaming into the not so good night, because of Liability Issues...even when you
    're qualified, and insured...

Nevertheless: if you STILL want to pursue the Noble Profession: Simply, request a Garda Vetting Application form, at least 3 months before you hope to gain a post, or enter an Education Programme. Fill out your life history, on a page of rough work paper, first, as the Vetting Form CANNOT OBTAIN A SINGLE ERROR, OR OMISSION...OR IT WILL BE RETURNED TO YOUR POTENTIAL WORK PLACE AND A NEW FEE TO PROCESS WILL BE REQUIRED. The house number, EXACT DATES OF RESIDENCE, AND, IF IN A FOREIGN COUNTRY FOR EVEN 3 WEEKS, AS AN INFANT, YOU MUST HAVE THE POST CODE PRECISE, ON THE FORM, OR IT WILL BE CANCELLED...
THINK BOURNE IDENTITY HERE...EVERYTHING CAN AND WILL BE CHECKED...

GOOD LUCK...MANY HAVE TRIED...AND FAILED TO BE PATIENT AND PERFECT ENOUGH IN CHARACTER TO PURSUE THE NOBLE PROFESSION.

You cannot apply for vetting directly. It is up to the organisation that you wish to work for to apply for the vetting, and that organisation must be registered with the Vetting Unit, so don't listen to anyone who says you should get the form yourself as it will not be processed.
It takes a minimum of 3 months for the vetting to be completed.

and if you work for multiple organisations then you need multiple garda vettings.

Hi all suspicious Netizens, on this Thread!

I met Garda Vetting standards; worked with children here, and in U.S. and even received offers of 4 year degrees in Early Childhood Education, here, and in US. I was simply lamenting, on behalf of friends, and myself, how the intensive vetting process repels many, otherwise qualified, candidates...since Suspicion, and Orson Welles Citizen Kane atmosphere got introduced, by posters, on this Thread, to my post...may I ask: Were such posters Male and were They challenged by Vetting Process?:P

Fervent political posting and overuse of caps lock are both unwelcome here. If you have a genuine grievance with Garda vetting procedures, that is ok: however we take a moderate approach to this forum and Zealotism is not tolerated.

In that case, you ought to consider that you have been warned and a further incursion will result in a ban.

Memo to Moderator, Hullabaloo...one of my immediate family helped create the www. They only ceased involvement because I was born, in 1965. The rule of thumb, is, among Netizens of the world, CAPS are for emphasis, not Zealot mind set...the word Zealot has been in the Media for several days, now, due to a tragedy, across the Atlantic...I think you confused my computer code for Emphasis with whatever you were reading in the Tabloids, on the Boston Tragedy...I've never been accused of, nor proven to be, a Zealot...and, you will never meet as many prominent Politicians, and Social Leaders, as I, in your life.

Good Bye, Hot Headed Moderators, and Child like Emperors of this Forum!

You have been warned...when you sit at a Boardroom Table, on a Major IT Job Interview; give evidence before an Oireachtas Commitee on IT, or participate in a multi media Forum at an International University...

Your immature, uninformed, hot-headed, rush to judgement Moderatorship of a Site such as this, WILL COME BACK TO HAUNT YOU (See? In this case, CAPS are being used to shout at your Infantile Intellect)

Farewell...don't forget to change your diapers every now and then...this Site really smells of poo...

Beethoven 65...old enough to know that you are out of your depth, on this Site

Beethoven65 a little over reaction me thinks, must be the 60's rebellious streak. BTW wanting to work in early childhood studies I would have thought poo filled nappies would be all par for the course.
