cycling and dieting to loose weight!

    Hi all,
    back on my bike and trying to get the weight down! i was just looking for a bit of advice as to which diets work well along with the pedalin. wouldnt know to much about carbs and proteins etc so any help would be good! im cycling around 30k-40k three nights a week and so far around 70 on a sunday. is that enough realistically??

    That's some impressive mileage. If you keep that up I thing you could probably eat what you want and still loose weight ;-)

    eat more carbs and fat than protein. but to lose weight you only have to burn more calories than you eat. it really is that simple. the trick is self control ;)

    Its all about training your body to burn fat. This involves long low intensity cycles with a few kicks just to get the heart rate up. Most people new to cycling overeat on their long spins. Keep hydrated and bring a few light snacks. You should be aiming for a 3 hour cycle of medium intensity without having to eat (or very little if you do). When finished drink a protein based drink (milk is fine) and have some carbs all preferably within 20 mins of stopping. It takes time to train your body to burn fat so be patient and enjoy your spins :)

    Have you been seen by your GP recently? It might well be an underlying issue.

    Have you tried reducing portion sizes?

    I cut out bread totally from my diet and lost 2stone in 9 months.
