Might have to move house?

I had an interview today with social welfare just to make sure everything up to date. I am a single mother in my final year of college with 1 child and living in a rented accommodation for over 2 years. They told me today that the house I am living in as it has 4 bedrooms, that they will probably ask me to move to another house which is smaller.

The problem is my child and I are settled here, have rent and bills paid up to date and we are in the ideal location as it is just out in the country and only 5 minutes away from her school and shops and we would be very upset if we did have to move. The only places available are apartments in the area or houses well over the allowance. Can they do this?

They want to reduce what ever rent support/suppliment you are getting, they might change this if you can show that this 4 bed house is actually cheaper than a lot of smaller units.

My house is 400pm and everywhere else is 400-550 so hopefully they won't. Thanks for the reply

    Its down to
    A cut backs
B people complaining how does a single parent get to live in 3-4 room house with one child while some are struggling to keep a roof over there heads with 2 people supporting bigger families in smaller homes or apartment's
If rent allowance is cut again in the next budget a lot of people will be on the move

It all depends on how much the RA cap is in your area for 1 adult and 1 child.

I hope to get a job when I finish college so will be great to be able to pay the rent myself and don't have to move. I don't plan on relying on social welfare forever that why I went back to college. Will just be upset if they tried to move me before I can get a job to pay my own way.

Hopefully you won't have to move at all ,
But if you do kids are handle moves better than adults especially if there young ,
We had to do it twice
