Hi! I just wanted to get opinions here with the ladies. I was in Zara the other day and I saw a lovely pair of white textured skinny jeans. However when I got my size, I could not even get it up my thighs even when going up one size. I feel that I'm a good size well proportioned (5'7 at 125lbs) but yet I found the pants too skinny in the legs. Is it just an issue with me and my body type?
By the way, here are the pants I'm talking about http://www.zara.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product/ie/en/zara-neu-S2013/401019/1222530/ANIMAL+PRINT+FLOCKED+TROUSERS

It's no you. Zara's sizes are very small.
I'm mostly an 8-10 in most stores.
But when shopping in Zara I can be anything from a 10-14.

I never by anything off them online cause I never know what size to get. It's real one of them "has to be tried on before I buy" shops.

Sizing in any shop is not accurate. Sometimes I bring two or three different sizes to the changing room with me. Go by what fits properly not what's on the label.

In Zara it depends on a model for me but mostly they are smaller than other brands.

It's a Spanish store, it's tailored for a Spanish body type, always found the legs/waist on trousers too small, with a baggy bum - never buy my trousers there!

An Italian friend of mine says that she never expect clothes to fit perfectly here or in Italy. Sizes are based on a models proportions according to her. At 5 ft 2" she always has trousers altered.

Yeah. Italian or Spanish clothing has somewhat slimmer fit and longer leg (usually 34" for jeans). I have more problems finding stuff that fits me in Zara or Mango than in Italian stores (I used to live next door to Italy so I did a lot of shopping there). It doesn't help that European 38 (10) is Spanish 40 and Italian 44 and German 36. It's bloody ridiculous. Anyway I got a great pair of straight leg jeans in Zara in size 12. Every other pair I tried in same size looked way to small on me.

I lived in Italy for a period over the summer, when I went into a store I thought I knew my European sizes, but didn't realise Italy had different numbers, had to ask the shop assistant to give me the next size up, twice! Scarlet.

Ops I just noticed I wrote wrong, 10 is Italian 42 not 44. Sorry for that.

I got caught couple of times in German stores (S. Oliver) thinking I lost weight. I was really pleased with myself for few minutes before I realised their sizing is bigger. :D

I find Zara clothing quite small-fitting. But I have a pair of size 10 skinny jeans from Bershka (same group of companies) and they're quite loose on me, even though I'm a size 12. Funny how two shops in the same family can be so different size-wise.

sorry to bump this thread, I'm just on the site now and I think that the size of this model does nothing for this dress:

    http://www.zara.com/ie/en/new-collection/woman/dresses/pinafore-dress-c269185p1296060.html

those girls do not look healthy and it definitely doesn't make me want to rush out and buy their dresses..........on the other hand, Karen Koster had a fab Oasis dress on Xpose the other night and I'm defo going to try it on, I know she's probably a size 8, but at least she looks good in her clothes..........

I hate catalog model look they are so fake and ridiculous that I find Zara approach refreshing. They make their clothes look more upmarket than they are. It's a Look vs. Vogue question.

Having worked in Zara for 5 years , most irish people because of their shape find zara a very snug fit . I'm thin myself and love the clothes but can see why it can be a problem for others .

That said within different collections in the store there can be a variety in sizing as in you might be a size up or down dependent on type of product being bought .

Id not buy online unless very sure on type of product being bought . That said you can return to the store nearest you so unless you are in a rush for it then online is fine . Although I paid 10 euro for express delivery recently on a wednesday at 1pm . The blazer I bought arrived at 11am the next morning .

I have a pair of Zara pants from years ago (pre kids) that I use as my gauge of whether I'm getting a bit heavier or no. I'm 11 weeks pregnant now and no movement on the scales but the muffin top on my pants says different!

I think that that model in the dress is a poor choice for that style- it would suit someone with boobs and a butt better, IMO, but she doesn't look underweight.
