From Friday 19th to Sunday 21st July in Derry as part of the city of culture there is going to be a major grappling extravaganza hosted

Friday and Saturday will be dedicated to Judo

Sunday will be a mix of a rookie freestyle wrestling tournament and also a submission wrestling tournament

It would be brilliant if we could get good support for all sections across the board to showcase the talent from around the country

    More details will follow.

The event will be hosted in a massive purpose built event centre and most likely be televised

Guys this competition will be as big as any grappling event held in Ireland this year

There will be hundreds of people competing over the 3 days

Be nice to get some support across the board from all grappling styles

    Some more details

Please note this is a not for profit event. The purpose is to help promote the grappling arts

    Hence
Cost for 1 section is £15

More than one is £25 even if multiple disciplines

This cost will include a red and blue tshirt supplied for wrestling events

(Note judo licence is required, a wrestling licence can be purchased for freestyle at much reduced cost of £5)

When you say a Judo licence is required do you mean a NIJF licence or are you accepting IJF and Judo Ireland ones too?

Jonah, just to clarify obviously only those doing judo need the license

I am not involved in running the judo part of the event but I will find out and get back to you

Here is some info on the rookie wrestling comp

Please keep this date in your diary.

The aim of the whole weekend is to promote the grappling arts as a whole in the area

Be great to get as many people involved as possible.

Also think this can be used as a springboard to help people get involved with the freestyle wrestling scene

had a look at the sections there , I take it a beginner would be a bjj white belt, blue belt intermediate and advance blue and above?
