I'm looking for some archival supplies namely acid free paper (A4) and Mylar sleeves. Any idea of places in Ireland or online and approx costs.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

    Pam West at http://www.britishnotes.co.uk does single pocket pages;
    See here.

Also Lindner do single pocket pages so Cathedral stamps in Cathedral St. might have them in stock. He is the official stockist for Lindner in Ireland.

    Hi all

Archival supplies is an area that retailers in this country frequently
over-charge for. You can buy supplies direct from the manufacturers
online at better prices. You will pay shipping, but if you
are buying a good lot of stuff you will save money online.

I have bought supplies direct from Hartberger in Holland:

    http://www.hartberger.nl/?___store=english

They are a manufacturer of coin mounts and do A4 pages
suitable for certificates, comic books etc.

They also distribute Lindner products and many other famous brands.

They accept payment by PayPal, and ship via DHL with
a tracking number. On my first order they even called me
from Holland to confirm my address. Lovely people, the Dutch,
    very friendly and businesslike. :)

Lindner themselves in Germany are also good, but not as quick
    as Hartberger:

    http://www.lindner-original.de/en/?___from_store=de

    Here are the catalogues:

    http://www.lindner-original.de/lindner-prospekte/

Both sites have reasonably good English translations, but you'll pick up
a bit of Dutch and German along the way. You can always
use Google translate, if you are stuck.

I would recommend buying branded products that are certified
acid-free and used throughout the industry for reliability and
protection of your items and artifacts.

If you go to E-bay or other online sources, you can of course buy
unbranded products in bulk much cheaper than these companies,
but there is very little protection to guarantee the quality
    of these kinds of suppliers:

    "500 acids-fre coins holder for $4!!!!!!"

"Best and lowest price for you my friend, Quick Ship From Hong Kong!!!!!"

There is a reliable supplier for storage of almost any item, it just costs
money, but cheap can sometimes turn out to be very expensive when
it comes to your collections condition and value.

I am very fussy when it comes to storage of items. Just my own preference, I suppose :)

Linder only accept large orders if you go direct. Be prepared for a grumpy response and lengthy wait with Cathedral Stamps.

What is a large order? I've bought €70 worth of stuff - pages,
binders, tools etc. and had no bother from Lindner or Hartberger.

I've never seen anything on their websites about minimum order levels,
    but maybe I'm wrong

The only thing is the postage fees are fixed, so if you but €3 or €30
it is the same, about €15 I remember. But with tracked shipping,
well packaged items, and good customer service backup
it's money well spent in my opinion.

I was only looking for 2 dozen pages and they refused to deal with me, but in a nice way.

Did you try their online store or e-mail them? A lot of places won't accept e-mail or phone orders,
especially if there is a language barrier. I've bought from their online store with no issues.

Alternatively, try Hartberger, they are pleasant, helpful stereotypical Dutch businesspeople.:)

A Dutch coin dealer stung me for over 2 grand a few years ago, it still eats me away inside every time I think about it...

Anyway personally I much prefer the Lighthouse range to Linder. Much nicer albums in my opinion, but that's just me.

Ah I had been buying coins off him for years and never had a problem. But then one day he contacted me about a quantity of coins, I sent the money and he just disappeared. Turned out he stung a load of people and a few of us got together to try and chase him down, but he did a runner from his rented apartment and that was that.

Sounds like the makings of a good TV-movie coming to RTE this December: :)

    Some possible titles:

    Heads or Tails: Amsterdam Hustle
    The Gold Run
    Counting Coins and Hearts

A mild-mannered Irish coin collector is double-crossed by a scheming
Dutch middleman. Infuriated, he travels to Amsterdam to hunt for answers.
He meets others deceived by the mysterious Dr. Schurmans, and a finds hidden
letter that reveals the truth behind the deal. As pursues his prey through the
streets of Amsterdam, he meets a beautiful foreign coin dealer with her own agenda.
Our hero finds he may get something more valuable than gold coins from the trade.

Filmed on location in Holland during the Coronation of King Wilhelm-Alexander
in Amsterdam, featuring an all star cast, this is a must see race against time,
one-off drama that adds a touch of class to RTE's winter schedule.

    Starring:

    Aidan Gillen as Blade

    Olga Kurylenko as Natasha

    John Hurt as Dr. Schurmans

Carice van Houten as Inspector Van Haas

Followed by a late news summary, and "A Prayer at Bedtime". :)

Coming this Christmas to RTE a special two-part drama:

    In-prodution titles:

protect his comic book collection, a mind-mannered antique
collector discovers a treasure map that appears to be a missing
page from the Book of Kells. Enlisting the help of an eccentric
Professor he soon uncovers the fantastic truth about the map
and it's significance for Ireland's future.

In pursuit is a mysterious foreign woman who also seeks
the page and has her own motives for finding its meaning.

Filmed on location in Trinity College Dublin, the National History Museum,

this is an entertaining and heart-warming adventure for all the family.
