    Likely Card:-

John Cena Vs. Ryback for WWE Title

Dolph Ziggler Vs. Alberto Del Rio Vs. Jack Swagger for WHC Title (Official - http://www.wwe.com/shows/extremerules/2013/ziggler-del-rio-swagger-26108228)

    Randy Orton Vs. Big Show
    Sheamus Vs. Mark Henry
HHH Vs. Brock Lesnar Steel Cage Match
The Shield Vs. Hell No for Tag Titles

Kofi Vs. Cesaro (Vs. Fandango Vs. Jericho) for US Title - If Jericho is gone off touring I could see Fandango being pushed maybe into the US or IC title scene

Barrett Vs. Miz for IC Title

One of the Bella or AJ Vs. Kaitlyn for Divas Title

Although WWE had previously been advertising The Rock for its Extreme Rules PPV following WrestleMania, F4WOnline.com is reporting that according to The Rock, he will be in Europe during that time filming "Hercules." Furthermore, the arena hosting Extreme Rules and WWE are no longer advertising The Rock for the event.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,542 ✭✭✭glenjamin

The post-Mania PPV is usually just as good as the post-Mania Raw. Looking forward to this.

Yep. The last few Manias have been disappointing, and with the Mania part-timers out of the way, Extreme Rules is now the proper Mania showcase for a lot of the talent, and is generally a MUCH better show.

    ER 2010 Cena/Batista, Edge/Jericho, Sheamo/H, Swagger/Orton, Punk/Mysterio
    ER 2011 Cena/Miz/JoMo, Christian/ADR, Rey/Cody, Orton/Punk
    ER 2012 Cena/Lesnar, Punk/Jericho, Sheamo/Bryan

Here's hoping 2013 keeps up the trend.

Just noticed that the PPV is May 19th

Isn't it usually held late April?

Are they getting rid of a PPV down the line this year?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,096 ✭✭✭✭the groutch

no, still 12, they're just squashing a load in at the end of the year

Sept 15th - Night of Champions
October 6th - Over The Limit
    October 27th - Hell In A Cell
    November 24th - Survivor Series
    December 15th - TLC

    talk about overkill

They could easily drop Over The Limit, it wouldn't be missed.

    That is ridiculous!

Just go with 11 PPVs if that is going to be the case.

That's mental, imagine having to pay the rates they do in the US for those every few weeks.

That's true, but their shows are on at a reasonable hour where you could go to a bar & see it for $5 or get a bunch of lads around and split the bill. The convenience of it is another world, nothing having to be knackered monday morning!

Brock has to win this one surely

Weren't they blaming "ppv parties" for lowering buyrates at one stage? people chipping in at a mates house rather than people buying the show themselves.

I'd expect so, they can't have him lose yet again on ppv, that'd make him what, 1-3?

They only make 20 dollars per buy on average so they are probably not that bothered, better to get people chipping in to buy than people using other means. Money from ppv buys is up last two years (mania is a big part of that abviously) as well.

Bear in mind that last time they had Lesnar they had him beat everybody and then he left after what...two years? Vince is on record with his disappointment about that. Given that Lesnar is only wrestling 3 matches a year (I think) I don't think they care about making him look like a beast as far as wins go. As long as they boost buyrates a little they probably don't care too much. Having him lose a few times is probably Vince's payback for what happened before, not that Brock cares.

That said, obviously if he keeps losing people will stop buying PPVs for him, but like I said he ain't gonna be around much so I don't think they care too much.

even worse is they put a crappy one in June called Payback, which was originally planned to be the return of Bash At The Beach.

Wasn't there talk of KOTR returning as a ppv at one time, I'd prefer that with one MITB match being at WM and no MITB ppv

    For what it's worth,
    Justin Gabriel
won the IC #1 contender battle royale on Main Event. Hopefully it means good things for him and Barrett.

The championship match already took place on main event though.

Could be good given their Nexus history but I'd prefer a push more for Kidd

Miz and Barrett's matches were quiet good but I don't understand why Miz won the title at WM pre show to lose it the following night on Raw back to Barrett

Maybe Barrett could become one of Heyman's guys while Lesnar isn't around and Punk is on vacate

I think Barrett feuding with Jericho or Christian (he ever damn returns :p) would be good for him and the IC title

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,196 ✭✭✭Ridley

If 'twere up to me, I'd just have Barrett challenging people every week to IC title matches. (Or have him annoy Guerrero or have some Booker T/Long miscommunication to set it up if his doing it by choice seems too noble.)

It feels like WWE puts more effort into his chasing the belt than defending it. The most interesting thing he's done as champ is fued with Miz Flair and Bo Dallas, and both of those ended on something of a whimper.

I'd argue Backlash 2009 was better than Mania as well.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Backlash_2009

Very much orientated towards the IWC, Cena and Trips lose, Christian becoming ECW Champion and Steamboat and Jericho having a good match.

:o I just said 2010 as that is when extreme rules was moved.

Plenty of good post mania events over the years.

To try and get the crowd excited. A title change always does that, keeps the crowd happy and excited. Also, the rest of the card (with an exception to Ryback vs Henry) was very predictable, so they might have done it to make it seem less so. It may have been to get him to 4-0, but I doubt it. Unless they want him challenging Taker in a streak vs streak match

This 'Miz is 4-0' thing is a meme I'm not getting, right?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,949 ✭✭✭A Primal Nut

It's not a mene. He's won all his four of his matches at WrestleMania.

The WM25 pre-show doesn't count? If they don't, then his 'streak' is down to 2-0. Granted, he didn't take the pin, but
    he and Morrison lost.

the pre-show at WM25 was a dark match, and wasnt aired online like it is now, which is why they don't count it.

    WM26 ShoMiz beat Truth & JoMo (R.I.P. wink.png)
    WM27 beat Cena
WM28 Team Johnny bt Team Teddy (Miz got the pin)

    and this year makes 4

Dolph Ziggler Vs. Alberto Del Rio Vs. Jack Swagger for the WHC Title is now a Ladder Match - this really should be the last match on the card, the main event match

Two of them are midcarders and ADR isnt much higher. No chance of it being the main event.

I think it will better than both Lesnar/HHH and Ryback/Cena matches plus I have zero interest in those two matches

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 18,521 Mod ✭✭✭✭DM_7

It will feature spots and not much in the way of story telling.

I wouldn't have a problem with it being the main event because two of the wrestlers are regarded as 'mid card', putting matches like this together elevates them. It must be said that if they are mid card then the mid card must be a great place to be these days.

I would be shocked if Brock v HHH is not the main event though.

    The updated ppv card:-

Last Man Standing match for WWE Championship: John Cena (champion) vs. Ryback
Tag Team Tornado match for WWE Tag Team Championships: Team Hell No (champions) vs. The Shield's Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins
United States Championship match: Kofi Kingston (champion) versus Dean Ambrose
'I Quit' match: Alberto Del Rio vs. Jack Swagger (winner becomes No. 1 contender for World Heavyweight Championship)
Steel cage match: Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H
Strap match: Sheamus vs. Mark Henry
Extreme Rules match: Randy Orton vs. Big Show
    Chris Jericho vs. Fandango
Pre-show match: Cody Rhodes vs. The Miz

I thought they should have put Big E Langston in the ladder match as a substitute for Dolph.

That way if Langston wins, Dolph keeps the title but you can continue to tease a feud between him and Big E. It gives Langston a good reason to be unhappy at Dolph stealing the spotlight since he'd only have the title thanks to him.

Don't think anyone really cares about the I Quit match. They would be better off opening the show with that one.

The triple threat ladder match was the one I was looking forward to the most

Good idea putting BigE in the match for Ziggler shame WWE won't though
