Car insurance that doesn't require a deposit.

Car insurance renewal due end of the month and my current provider (123.ie) are asking for a deposit, which is normal i know but shortening the repayments to 8 instead of 10. I could do without having to fork out €150 deposit at the end of the month and just pay in 10-12mth installments.I've been with them 3 years and while their renewal quote has increased, is still decent compared to Aon.

Does anyone know (before i trawl through all the sites) which insurers do this. My cars worth feck all, so it'll be TPF&T, with lowish excess (although i wont claim for fire/theft of mine) and breakdown cover included. ;) Have 6 years NCB if that's any use.

I think most charge a deposit, i recently switched from 123 to no nonsense as my renewal went up aswell(€200) despite no claims

    Shop around

I'm trying to avoid this bit by cheating here :D A friend of mine who banks with AIB got deposit free car insurance over the full 12mths, so i know it can be done. I don't bank with them though so just wondering if anyone else is doing it.

Mine has gone up €90 which they said was due to the (male v female) clause being changed, which is fair enough. The €90 increase while not massive, its the cutting the installments down to 8 instead of 10 and the huge deposit (for me) which im trying to soften if i can.

Most companies will charge a deposit (especially if its your first year with them), more and more people are cancelling their insurance when they have a disc for the window, by not charging a deposit the companies make it easier for them

    AIB 12 month payment

They can't be the ONLY ones doing it.

Fairly sure Tesco don't. Didn't charge this year anyway. Not 100% sure 1st year but don't think so.

Tesco didn't charge me up front the last 2 years.

Just changed to 123 and felt stung when I had to pay a large chunk up-front.

(I changed because Tesco upped my premium by 35% and wouldn't match 123's quote, even though they are both underwritten by RSA. I ended up paying 10% less with 123. Seems to be the norm, you need to keep changing to get the 'introductory ' rates.)

Why cant you use the AIB one? Im pretty sure you dont have to be a customer with them to get it?

Is it viable to take out a small credit union loan in order to pay the premium up front? The credit union interest rate might be lower than what the insurance company factor into their monthly repayments.
