Remove DPF Focus 1.6 TDCi

My Ford Focus 1.6 TDCi DPF is playing up (nothing unusual there).

I got it flushed out by my mechanic about 5 months ago when the engine malfunction light had been coming on intermittently and that actually fixed the problem (for a while).

Lately however, my MPG has been down and the engine has been a bit sluggish. I brought it back in for a service today and my mechanic reckons there's a small hole after appearing near where the DPF connects to the engine, he tried to patch it but that caused the DPF engine fault to begin registering again.

He has advised me that the best course of action would be to remove the DPF altogether and remap the ECU to delete the DPF, but he can't do it himself.

Does anyone know of a reasonable service agent who would be able to offer ECU remapping if my mechanic bores out the DPF (Mayo/Galway area)? There's plenty of other disgruntled Ford and Mazda customers recently with similar issues so this course of action might become more commonplace for my mechanic.

Did you get this sorted? How much did it cost you to remove the DPF?

    Thanks
