Graphics cards

So its time to look at a card for the rig and I honestly can not decide what card to get. I have been tossing between nvidia and amd a bit, seems amd has better value in areas and alot of there cards have 3GB ram inbuilt were its 2Gb with nvidia. I have seen a good view videos and Im pushing towards nvidia for the physX reason, from what I saw it does make a difference in, I know amd has a driver ability for it also but as we know hardware is always better.

So looking at a nvidia card im thinking 680, then either MSI lightning or and EVGA classified. I am pretty confident I will SLI at some stage and I need this to last me a few years.

So does anyone have any experiences with amd and nvidia cards, what would be your personal experience between them?

Do you have a 680,670? Whats your opinion there?

    Thanks

For the card or the rig? Do you already hae a rig? What are its specs. No point in spending more money than necessary - what are your requirements, what will you be using the computer for?

If you want nvida then the 670 would be a better buy than the 680. But, the AMD 7970 with the 2 free games package would be the way to go with that budget especially if you have more than one monitor.

Thinking that myself. Yeah on the http://www.aria.co.uk/ site some serious amd deals to be had there but last thing I would want to do it sacrifice a better card over a few games.

I'd go for the 670. I don't really see the point in a Lightning/Classified though. There's only so high these cards will go, and unless you really want to burn your money, they're not really worth it. Put the money into water cooling or an SSD or something.

There wasnt a big diff in price between the ftw and the normal one. Especially on the evga site where you can buy direct from.

Where you getting the h220 from? Thats the cooler I want to buy but there hard to find around europe. Cheapest I found was 140. Good cooler though lets you expand andwatercool gpu at some stage easily which is a bonus

specialtech, its not going to be in stock until may though, its out of stock everywhere as they had to move to a new factory but count yourself lucky as there were teething problems in the first batch

there was apparently some contaminant in the coolant which was causing the pump to get backed up and turn itself off. the last batch to head to the us were individually flushed before being sold on for this reason. they are also including a sata rather than molex connector for the fan splitter on the next run
