When I first moved into my house back in August 08 I had the Chorus MMDS system installed into the house.

It was absolutely dire and I had cancelled with in a week and got Sky in.

Two lads came knocking at the door about 6 months later looking for the equipment which they took with them bar the MMDS aerial.

This morning I heard an awful noise coming from the roof and this aerial had come loose and was banging about up there , doing damage to the side capping of the tiles on the house and god knows what damage to the tiles up there.

It was now only hanging on by the coax cabe , another gust of wind took it clean off the roof and flying down it came hit my neighbours wall and missing there winds by 2 inches , it would of gone clean through it

There is a bit of weight to the unit , maybe 3-4kg and it would of done serious damage if it caught anyone on the way down,

    Now my question is :

Are UPC/Chrous Liable for the damage ?

Is it up to them to come and remove this unit , the only way this can be done is getting up on the roof and its quite steep as we have 3 floors in the house.

If UPC/Chorus are Liable whats the best way about contacting them to get htis resolved

    Thanks for any advice folks

I assume you paid an installation fee at the time which would have covered labour, aerial and cabling. The STB would have remained the property of UPC which is why they came back to collect it.

Do you still still have the terms and conditions lying about?

Not sure what I paid or how but it was all done through Chorus/UPC,

Dont think I have paper work here from 5 years ago but will check the filing cabinet ,

OP you are verging into asking for legal advice here, which we can't give on Boards. TBH your best bet is to consult a solicitor if establishing liability for alleged damage is what you are after.

If you just want UPC to remove the aerial, you could try asking them.
