    Hi all,

Just wondering which of these would be the best option to check the history of a 02 car? I'm particularly interested in the no. of owners and the milage history

I normally use cartell just out of habit the full report gives number of previous owner and mileage check. I'm not sure what motor check is like I think there all basically the same more or less.

I've only used motorcheck before and did so because I had done some searches on here and someone from motorcheck posts here and helps out with queries people may have.

The reason I ask is that I understand both have a separate mileage database. There's hardly any difference in price between the 2 different services but don't fancy paying for both

Cartell uses NMR (National Mileage Register) that they created themselves.

Motocheck uses their own database and the INMR (Irish National Mileage Register). INMR is built by Motor Trade members.
I suspect cartell dips into INMR too.

    Neither uses NCT miles.
Cartell claims their database is biggest.

Thanks all. Went with motorcheck and didn't have a previous record of that particular car so I'd say cartell would be the same.

I often wondered if the Motorcheck or Cartel reports were worth it. I am still not convinced.

Anyone know how are these (Irish) National Mileage Registers etc. are populated? Is it when a dealer sells a car , and chooses to submit a record of the mileage and details of the car etc. ? (its presumably optional and I wonder how many Dealers could be bothered to do that)

It would make sense if these databases were populated from the NCT records ...anything else is a joke.

If I am buying a used car I like to see previous servicing certs and previous NCT certs etc. (they have the mileage)
