Samsung 3D tv

Hi,

I recently bought a samsung 40" tv it has a sky connect port on the back of the tv... when i connect the sky cable directly to this port i get a wide range of channels from all the rte's to the film 4 channel 4 itv etc, but only on the rte stations there comes up scrambled signal... is there any way i could fix this so that the tv picks up these stations, or is it even possible..?

This only happens on the rte stations...??

Sounds like a TV with a DVB-S tuner so!

You will only get Free To Air satellite channels on that mate sorry.

So you will not be able to viewing the RTE's or TV3's.

You will have to use Saorview for that!

It may also have a suitable DVB-T tuner. OP, can you post the tv model?

That TV is advertised as Saorview approved in Powercity.
Have a look for a DVB-T connection on the TV. You will need a suitable aerial plugged into this prior to tuning in DTT stations.

If you set the Country=UK, then you will get Freesat on the satellite connection. Connect a UHF aerial and you will have the Saorview channels on the AIR whith FTA on the Satellite and Freesat on the Freesat menus. With Country=Ireland you will not get Freesat atall. The Saorview channels are mixed-up randomly and need sorting if you want Freesat.

I assume that you can add in the lots of extra satellite stations which aren't part of the Freesat platform yet manually in the other channels sections and tune them in? King of sat.net is the best along with Lyngsat.com and Flysat.com for the frequencies, Pids etc.

You effectively have three tuners in the TV - all seperate. A Freeview/Saorview called Air; A Freesat tuner (when Country=UK); and a FTA Satellite tuner. You switch between them in a simillar way to the way you switch between a DVD, Freesat box and a STB. Each is independant and the EPGs are not combined.

Clunky, but it works and passes the wifey test.

How did you manage to get the players working? I have been trying to set this up for a while now.
