Out of interest. I have sold 2 cars on DD and had them both sold within 3 days at just under asking and @ a fair price for both people.

Have you ever had a motor that you just cant get rid of? What is the general "time it takes" to sell a car on DD?

How long did it take to sell? 31 votes

I have, but it wasn't really the correct place to sell the car I was selling. It was 18 months old and I was asking c. €20k for it. It wasn't anything fancy, and priced fairly but for that kind of money I myself would prefer to buy from a reputable source.

I think it has its place, but above a certain price range you will struggle.

Most I've sold within 1-3 days,

One stands out as taking about 2 months - but it was vastly overpriced, and purposely so, I didnt really want to sell it, but had to be seen to make an effort as I had 3 cars blocking up a small yard at the time. - Did sell though, and for stupid money too

And one took feckin ages, nearly a year; an old jeep, hundreds of calls from farmers who "might come and look at it"

"but then its probably a bit too far,"

"just wanted to find out what she's like anyway"

"would ye drive it to cavan so i can have a look at it"

    "Have ye any sheep?" :eek::pac:

I've had my MG ZS up there for over a month now and had very little interest. 18 months nct and in great condition. Price may be a little high, but I'm not overly pushed selling it cause I love it so much!

Oh and I sold a Fiat Punto in less than 24 hours!

Sold mine within 3 days of it going up.

Do your research on similarly priced cars before arriving at your asking price, present the advert clearly and correctly including good quality photos and bulletin point relevant information.

Rover 420 diesel, W124 Merc, E34 520i tourer, Rover 216 Coupe (for peanuts, gearbox failure), MG ZT, Mit' Carisma all sold within a week iirc for the €s I wanted.

Iirc it took a tad longer to shift a Prelude but I was asking steep enough money for it.

Can't really fault donedeal.ie tbh for what it is.

15hours to sell my corolla, got strong money for it.

I think it hugely depends on the actual ad. I spent a full two days cleaning and detailing before I took pics. Long detailed description as well.
