non payment of fixed penalty notice advice please

I received a 100e fixed penalty for not having a valid ticket when I got off the train, this was all the way back in February. The annoying part was I did genuinely buy a ticket at Connolly station and as anyone who is familiar with the station knows its impossible to try and avoid paying for a ticket, plenty of security and a wall of barriers. I was going to try appeal at the time but looked into iarnrod eireanns bylaws/policies regarding same and it looks impossible to win the appeal so didn't bother.
This is where it gets a little more complicated. when getting issued with the fixed penalty I gave my true name but an old rented address(I lived there 3 years ago), as I had no i.d. they asked for another address, and as I was going out to visit them I suggested my parents address.
I can't be sure whether or not he wrote down my parents address but I do know nothing has been sent there with my name on it. I haven't access to the old address but I can only imagine that a summons has been posted to it at this stage its over 2 months ago.
I should have just paid the penalty I know but its about 2inches long by 1 inch wide, obviously I lost it misplaced it I really don't know and I had a lot going on at the time as I was moving into a new home etc.
Any ideas on what I should do?? I'm thinking of trying to gain access to the old address to check the post or maybe engaging with a solicitor to try and establish if a summons has been issued. The problem with that is wouldn't I be admitting my guilt even to him/her and also isn't giving false information re your name or address an offence in itself?
Another part of me is thinking about just letting it go and if ever I do get pulled up on it I'll deny it down to the ground. they never saw any type of identification from me only what I told them, I could have been anyone telling them lies?? surely they wouldn't have the cctv from the local dart station? and hang onto it, would they?
I'd much rather rectify the situation than let it drag on without knowing for certain as my minds been racing for the last week about it any advice would be much appreciated thanks

If you can prove you bought the ticket dont pay the fine.

We can't give you legal advice, if you want it, talk to a solicitor.

If you ignore the matter, you could end up with a criminal conviction by default and that may have certain implications.

You could phone them up and ask what the status of the matter is. I get the impression they are amenable to dealing with such matters outside court, provided you pay the penalty and their costs to date.

thanks for the swift replies at this late hour, victor how can they prove it was me in the first place? if I ring up then that's an admission of quilt almost as I'll have to furnish them with all the details etc. who else would ring up bar the quilty party. I don't mind that(paying) if I knew that it was still early enough to just pay the fine etc.

You are over thinking this. Call them in the morning I am sure this is not a unusual occurrence.

Bar that you need a solicitor.

the Revenue Protection Officer will give evidence that it was you. These people are trained to give evidence and judges believe them. You can of course challenge that evidence and it will be down to who is more believable.

This is what solicitors are for. But they cost money.

thanks for the replies I just read the charter so I hope I'm not overstepping the mark here. just wondering do either of you know how long it takes iarnrod eireann to send you a summons?. I know I originally had 21 days to pay the 100e so what happens after that??

As you gave a false address, if this gets to court you will already have a credibility issue.
