I have a level 7 business degree but now I want to go on to do teaching in either primary or secondary, but preferably primary!
I don't have enough points from the leaving cert to go straight ino teaching but is there any other way that I can go on to become a teacher and get a job??

    Hi

    I'm almost certain you'd need a level 8 degree.
Postgrad dip in primary: Primary college options are:
    1. Marino
    2. St Pat's Drumcondra
    3. Froebel
    4. Mary I , Limerick
    5. Hibernia college

Check out individual colleges for entry requirements. You need at least a c3 in higher level Irish and a very high standard for the interview.

    Also Northern Ireland/UK: PGCE
    1. Uni of Ulster

And many others check out gttr.ac.uk

Thanks for that. So basically I would need honours Irish, I struggled with ordinary in the lc so doubt I would manage it! Is there any other way around this?

I would love to work with children in some way, as long as there is work out there or there will be

Please check out the jobs situation first. Seriously.

You will be responsible for the level of Irish of the children in your class. You owe it to them to be as confident in your own standard of Irish as possible.

You may find a course but you'll have an interview which may contain questions in Irish when it comes to getting a job. You should work on your Irish and try then maybe. Is there a way to do an extra year to get a Level 8 degree?

How about training as an SNA? You'd still get to work in a classroom but I don't think they are a strict on the Irish requirements? (could be wrong about this though)
