I mounted a piece of wood on the wall just under the desk then mounted all my power bricks on that. Quite clean and really easy to do.

Yup, I did something similar. My desk has a backboard on it, and I just stuck and 8-way extension to it.

Your second link was exactly the type of thing I had in mind for cables running behind a desk. It's perfect coz you can pull out wires or add new ones simply and quickly.

Ideally you would only use the tubing for areas where the wires could be seen, i.e. coming up to the back of the PC/Monitor/Router/Speakers/etc & going to the wall socket.
Then you could use something like one of those boxes mounted to a hidden area behind your desk as a way to tidy all the extra length somewhere and some cable ties to keep the wires from getting tangled.

Just get the under desk cable caddy yoke from Ikea, problem solved.
