County dub. Vec applications, how does it work

Just saw a call for applicants for county dublin vec...(huzzah, jobs for everyone in the audience!)

I've never applied through this system before and it seems as if it's just listed every subject and you apply without knowing where the school is...or even what other subjects you are supposed to have...or what the contract is?

Am I missing something here, it all seems a bit blind to me..

You would be employed by the VEC, not the individual school, which is why it's advertised like that.
They are probably using the ad to get people for their panel too, hence all the subjects.

Gotcha, so basically it's like a recruitment agency... Throw yer name in the pot and get an unexpected phone call within the next year or so!

This is an annual thing. They advertise for all subjects for all schools every year. It doesn't mean they actually have any jobs in any schools, though obviously a few sub positions will inevitably come up so they will have a list of applicants ready. They will readvertise the same again around August.

Applied last year, but never heard from them at all. Do you need to apply again to stay on the panel?

I have a CID contract with them and according to my principal I need to apply every time they advertise to ensure I can be given extra pro-rata hours on top of my CID and to remain eligible for a permanent contract should such a thing ever arise again in our lifetime. Teachers who had worked on part time contracts in our school for a few years but who failed to apply a couple of years ago could not be interviewed for pro-rata contracts when they became available.

I would apply every time they advertise, which is usually now and in July/August.

Subbing at the mo, principal of where I work recommended it but she wasn't sure if you had to re-apply, thanks for the clarification.
