I know my friends will laugh and say it is writers or W::::::kers cramp. But a physio today told me i have Golfer's Elbow.

Nightmare, up to 8 weeks out .

Was playing away last few months with slight pain right elbow.

Just put it up, to warn of the risks of too much range work. Started in November.

Bad timing. But should have gone earlier.

I guess it will be ok to putt.

    Anybody any experience?

    Sorry to hear this FDP.

Never had this but I'm almost back playing after a torn Latissmus muscle at my shoulder. Same root cause as you; too much practice swings.

Ive been out 10 weeks and its tough as hell but stick with the physios instructions and you'll get there.

    Good luck.

Sorry to hear that, horrible timing too. The good news is that you should be back at it in the middle of the summer, every cloud and all that.

Could be tennis elbow. The pain is in the same area except it's mainly on the outside of the elbow. If it is, the cause may not be your golf swing but something else.

Not quite the same thing, although they are very similar conditions and have very similar treatments. The key difference is that your finger grip and wrist action are more affected with medial epicondylitis (golfer's elbow) than with lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow).

That said, you could be quite correct that the cause might be something other than your swinging a golf club. It's basically a repetitive strain issue.

So FDP, rest, ice / heat & physio are yer only men.
Mind now that you don't make it worse by exercising your elbow locally.

Jaysus lads - thanks very much.

The Physio seems good - will follow what she says. She says after fixed, may be worth building up area. This suprises me.

I thnk- I'll go to a golf pro / fitness guy. Getting too many injuries. Not like I'm doing anything mad. Strange. Age I guess.

Do swing too fast still and was hitting way too many balls. But that was nearly 6 months ago. Perhaps I did all the damage then.

Hopefully - i get back a little quicker - 5 to 6 weeks will see.

Voltarol and a few weeks rest without golf worked for me a couple of years ago!:)

Got it last year, well self diagnosed based on google, but rest really is the only help. bit of advice -don't hold any small kiddies hands on the side that is affected because if they fall and pull your hand while you are holding it is sore as f**k.

Building up the area funnily enough helps a lot, bench pressing seemed to help me a great deal.

incidentally I think I still have it, probably because of the smallies yanking at it all the time. I haven't been playing much since turn of the year and it is pretty much gone but in the back of my mind, when i pick up a club, it is still there. I think it was caused by too much range practise and grip changes especially gripping too hard as I tried to learn how to play.

I see what your getting at - I can blame the kids :)

No your right that angle hurts.

I have been known to grip too tight as well. So will review that as well . Thanks.

A friend of mine had the very same thing about 2 years ago, he had accupuncture on it a few times and was right as rain in about 2 or 3 weeks.

Had tennis elbow before.None of the hippy cures or quacks worked for it.
Take a week off from golf and take difene tablets prescribed by a real doctor and that will be the end of it.

Also that was four years ago and the pain was so bad if i lifted my elbow above parallel i was almost crying.Never even a twinge since.

Tried them today - what a sleep this morning.

Feel a bit stranger than normal - that is very strange. Out tonight for a few scoops - should be interesting.:P:eek::cool:

Must use left arm for drinking.

Cant remember if i drank after taking them. The one thing i will say is to never take them on an empty stomach.

Since you are going drinking sure down a few jagerbombs and enjoy the buzz :-)

edit:you feel stranger than normal?how strange do you normally feel???

Hmmmm, must not be that bad considering you we're out playing the same day as you were at the physio. From personal experiences of sports injuries, there is no way you would be swinging a club if it was an actual problem.

Also Difene is a prescription only anti inflamitory painkiller (unless things have changed), so you would have had to seen a doctor and not a physio you wouldn't be able to just try them. The side effects you are imagining are another from Difene either.

    <cough/> bullsh1t <cough/> attention seeker ;)

Well you got everything wrong - so you would want to reconsider your ability of deduction Columbo .

So I played 9 holes - went in - I'd need to be dying to head in. Not dying, but knew i was only doing harm. Went to Physio - got Difene from a family member.

So - attention seeking maybe - but Bustercherry (says it all) . Bull**** no.

Relax now - you never know what could come out with Difene and six Medocs. Left arm used only.
