Why don't you just open one & see if it tastes ok?

To be honest, it would be very difficult to know if there is something wrong with the wine without opening it.

I'd say that your best option would be to take one of the 'offending' bottles to a local wine shop (a good one, that is) & ask for their opinion on it.

I've had questions before about some wines I picked up & my local wine guy - Douggie in Red Island Wines in Skerries - was only too happy to help.

Douggie is great and that's a great wine shop! I believe they do add gasses to wine as a kind of preservative. I think a very, very tiny amount of CO2 might be added and that could be the issue. My guess is that the wine is fine but, yeah, you'll have to open one up to know for certain I'm afraid. How expensive is the bottle and could you replace one easilly, and without a huge outlay if you decided to open one up at the weekend to try out?
