Any need to get nct car checked by mechanic?

    I am looking to buy a ford focus 2001, 86000 miles, had timing belt and pump changed at 82000 and just passed NCT.
    Would you still bring such a car to get checked by a mechanic or if all seems good in test drive does the fact that it has passed nct mean that all is well?

    Yes, NCT just means no dangerous rust, good bushings, etc.
    It doesn't mean engine is in good working order.

    If you know cars well you may decide to forgo the mech inspection but for most people that would still be a good idea.

    Personally,,I'd go with the latter.

    If all seems well,and just passed the NCT,,I wouldn't be too worried about it.

    NCT only valid at the time it was issued. Anything could have happened in between.
    Get a mech to check it over, even if its just for your own peace of mind.

    Bad advice that!. If you seen the amount of sh1t heaps that pass the NCT every day.

    It really has little bearing on the condition of the car, it just means it conformes to the minimum road worthy standards at time of test.

    probably more important to see a receipt for that timing belt change
