Not another tubs v clinchers thread, I promise :) I'm looking for a set of aero race wheels, and have a lead on a set of s/h zipp 404 clinchers (pre firecrest) with alloy brake rim. I was originally looking at getting a set of tubs built up on decent hubs, using either alloy or carbon rims, or just buying a set of planet x pro 50 tubs.

These wheels will be race only, and used for less hilly road races with the occasional TT thrown in.

The zipps will be heavier than the planet x tubs, but should be more aero (faster). The handbuilt will depend on spec. even with the heavier zipps the race bike should come in around 7ish kgs when finished, so Im not overlly concerned about the weight, but more the performance and durability. Im circa 85 kgs, so need something sturdyish.

budget is about 700 ish for wheels and tyres

    opinions welcome :)

A pair of Flo 60s is what you need.

    I'd buy the zipps.
Look great on any bike and if you're getting them for 700 ish you'll get most of that back in a jiffy when you go to sell em on.
