We recently had a cow with twins all well up and sucked but soon discovered she had little milk. Tried to feed them with a bottle but they wont take it. She barely has enough for one calf... Trying to get one of them to suck another cow now... Hopefully it will work.. I wont be sorry to see the end of the calving season this year between chills and scour and cows with no milk its a tough calving season this year...

Did you try giving her a few kilos of ration?

You know your own cow better than anyone here, but I will say this: Recently calved, so I assume maybe a week or so, carried twins, maybe thinning.......Feeding ration is not goin to make a perceivable difference in a few days. I'd lorry the grub into her, if nothin else it'll help her come around quicker. It will surely bring a drop of milk, though with twins you'll never see it in her. I'd offer ration to the twins too if you had the set-up for it.
But like I said you know tour own stock best!

Thanks Bizzum. They are 3 weeks old now. They are eating a little ration now. Hope for the best. If they would only suck the bottle I wouldn't mind ..

I've never had a good experience with suckler twins. Even if she has enough milk for two, over the year it will kill her and she'll find it difficult to go in calf again. You're better off to take one away.

do the calves look hungry, any chance they are getting a suck off another cow, milk is very important when they are young, tbh , if they are not getting enough and wont suck a bottle maybe you should stomach tube them...

Doing that at the minute. How long can ya continue to tube them ?
There is only one on her now . I think she will have enough for one.. Its tough when they wont suck...

Take one away and leave him get hungry for a day and he will suck a bottle. Had to do it a few weeks ago myself with a 6 week old calf, hunger is the best sauce.
