I thought I'd start this topic for those of us who aren't engaging in the glamorous world of the Boards League playoffs.

Those of us left raging by another poor season.

Those who missed out by an inch.

Those whose season crumbled like so many hopeful Romo-led seasons.

Those who cry; "Next year will be my year!!!" and those who are maybe looking for something to comment on.

    ________________________________________________________________

After an off season that lead to a surge of hope for the residents of St Louis, with the acquisitions of A.J Green and Brian Orakpo, the crash down to reality set in for the long suffering fans of the Rams.

A 7-9 first season is followed up with a 6-10 second and a disaster in the final 3 weeks as due to work and holidays i had to sim those 3 games.
Making a change from a Run Heavy team to a more pass happy one, was a much bigger task than i thought, and in hindsight i wish that when Flacco, Stafford and even to a degree, Romo, had become available i had pulled the trigger instead of sticking with Bradford and Campbell.

I quickly realised that even with Green and later on Britt, as well as Dresseen and Amendola, i needed a QB that could throw the ball accurately. After flip flopping between Bradford and Campbell for a few games (one would play poorly, get replaced, backup does well, starts next game, does poorly) i stuck with Campbell for the season.
Had numerous questions from players on the location of one S.Bradford while playing and informed them of his new position as an extremely high paid kick holder. (S.Bradford is available for trade:D).

Also in transition from the 1st season was my defense. Changing from 4-3 to 3-4 worked in some areas but maybe a switch back wouldn't go amiss.

The most difficult part of the season was trying to find a playbook that suited my style and team i had assembled. Again i switched between a good few until settling on the Dolphins playbook.

Even though i didnt meet up to my expectations this season, i learnt a hell of a lot playing against more differing styles, and from getting my ass handed to me on a few occasions.
As a wise foe once told me; you learn much more from a defeat than a victory.

2nd season down and looking ahead to a barnstorming 3rd and final season in my first Madden league.

Now where do i sign up for next year's version....

Colts finished 7-9 and i was disappointed with that, expected better although throwing loads of Interceptions didnt help our cause.

Had a good start but the Middle part of season was a complete disaster, lost game and lost heavily during this period, and even though i lost most of them, last 6 games was a big improvement, only lost by 3 points in these games and could've won them apart from throwing TD return Interceptions .

Changing from the previous Colts coach defence at the start was probably a mistake considering i lost some good players to the FA market, but it greatly improved towards the end and if i can get some players in to improve the weaker parts i woiuld hope not to concede as much in season 3.

I was delighted with my Offense (Interceptions aside), I've a couple of good WR's a couple of Good TE's and apart from maybe another good WR, I'd be happy enough in the passing area, but i also have to get my Run game going alot more, i've got Jennings now who is more reliable (apart from the odd fumble) then Forsett so will look to run more in season 3.

all in all i cant wait for season 3 now, my expectations are alot lower then they were going into season 2 but if i can cut out the Interceptions and concede less, i hope to have a good season and if i finish even 8-8 i'll be delighted :)

Raiders finished 11-5 which was above my expectations of a winning season! Even made it to the divisional :)

All in all, I don't think I can complain. I won hard games but also got taught how to play real ball by the big boys!

Palmers injury for 6 weeks was a blessing and a curse. A blessing cos I didn't have to play with him anymore and a curse cos I didn't have a backup! Blake alt came out and, despite occasional moments, was horrible ( especially against Berty)

Hester has really developed over the last few weeks! As with all my WR at the start, they actually hated holding onto the ball so I had to learn how to run. Hester & Clayton came together towards the end and became real threats. To quote Mikie ' I can't even keep up with em' so offense is a human error than talent lacking. McFadden had a good year, showing his best work against the patriots 2 weeks in a row!

Defensively, I was happy. I threw a lot of picks, but I got my share back. My secondary was very decent and all mistakes (bar a few tard moments) were all me! Hueston came back from injury and handed out sacks like nobody's business! Overall, happy out!

    Looking 4ward to next season!

    The strategy
Browns play a heavy run game right up the gut.
They have never heard of a pitch outside or stretch play, what are they?

They also never attempt medium passes as Weeden is brutal at them but he does throw a mean long bomb.
I like my quick slants to Josh Cribbs and my new WR Lee Evans who plays the same role.

    The stats

On offense, 29th in passing yards :o
    21st in rushing yards

On defense, 21st in passing yards
    23rd in rushing yards

I swore my run D was better then that!!

    The stars

D'Qwell Jackson MLB with 9 sacks, 7 picks. He has better hands then some of my receivers! :pac:

TJ Ward SS with 7 picks and 8 forced fumbles, hits like a boss

Destined to be thrown into Lake Erie
Andre Smith RT 17 sacks allowed and he's not even good at run blocking, I always go left behind Joe Thomas.

    Most improved:
Greg Little cured his dropsies and became a dependable reciever :)

    Best FA signing
Marcell Reece, fullbacks are people too. Great blocker and he even got an 88yd TD.
He's faster then a lot of running backs, an example is Steven Jackson!

    Worst FA signing
Shawn Nelson TE. Shocking amount of drops, my backup TE is a crucial player in my playbook.
Should have signed Todd Heap when he was available

    Best win
Shut out the Cardinals and won.

    Heartbreak
Led the Ravens 17-0, lost an onside kick and they won the game on an 4th & 2 with 30 seconds left *sob* :(

    Plan for next year:
Draft a beast of a cornerback to partner Joe Haden.
New guard and a Tight End would be welcome too.

    Happiest about:
Well over 50% of my games I score first and put together good & balanced drives to take an early lead

    Most concerned about
I promptly throw away leads.
If games finished after two quarters, I'd be pushing for a wildcard!

    Plan for next year
    AFC North Champs
