Failed Disk in Spanned Volume

    Hey guys,

I'm pretty new to all of this and I think I've made a huge mistake!

I'm running Windows Home Server 2011 and had about 2TB of data on a single disk. I recently added a new disk, converted the first to dynamic and spanned the volume over the 2.

The newest disk has since failed so it appears that I've lost my data. Is there any way that I can retrieve even the data that was stored on the old disk? I have tried some of the software which allows you to convert back to Basic without losing data but I have to pay >€100 for the server editions.

    Thanks

    Raid0 I presume ?
I'd so no redundancy I'm afraid. If its software raid do a google for raid reconstructor, Ive had (limited) success with it.
If the data is valuable youll have to send off the disks to a specialist house.

    Thanks for the reply horgan_p.

Yes it was Raid0. I'll have a look at raid reconstructor.

Since the majority of data was stored on a single disk before I spanned across 2, is it not possible to retrieve this data? Something as simple as plugging the drive into a docking station won't work?
