I'm thinking of investing in a compressor and a few attachments as about to embark on a full revamp of the house. First up is, is there a nail gun that can be used for driving them big F**kers of mushrooms heads for attaching drylining to masonry.

No there isn't. You need to drill an 8mm hole and hammer each one in

cheers GalwayDude, I thought it would be a tad ambitious to expect there would be such a tool out there. On some walls I'm thinking of doing 1" battens and nailing 2" kingspan boards to this. For the purposes of passing cables and stuff down behind. Can I assume nailing 1" laths to a concrete block wall would be a simple task for a nail gun?

You can't use a normal gun. You will need a concrete nail gun and a good sized compressor to drive the concrete nails

Alternatively hire a cartridge shot-fixing gun from a plant hire firm. These take 0.22 cartridges, and will fire a hardened steel nail with washer head into steel, never mind concrete. With such a tool there is no drilling into the walls, and it's easy to fix dry lining battens in a whole room in an hour or two. I own one, and have found it indispensable for all sorts of fixing jobs.
