    Ok so you didnt write to me and the rest of the board to voice your dissatisfaction with the board nominating Mr McQuaid for the UCI presidency.

    Well you can make amends. I suggesst that you all go to the hall of fame nominations page and ensure that you nominate Mr Paul kimmage, Emma O'Reilly for Hall of fame awards.

    I didnt let you down so please dont let me down this time.

    You get three nominations. I'd humbly suggest Mr. David Walsh as the third.

    Whoah - draw the brakes! Surely a hall of fame award should go to somebody who has achieved something memorable, rather than be wasted on the Big Tex fallout? Are Kelly, Roche, Mick Murphy, Shay Elliott, Paddy Flanagan, Shay O'Hanlon etc not more deserving of lifetime recognition?

    The Board considered how best to implement a Hall of Fame and have agreed that members will be asked to submit nominations for inclusion in a Hall of Fame, these nominations will be reviewed by a five person panel and an inaugural twenty-five recipients recognised as part of Cycling Ireland’s twenty-fifth anniversary celebrations in 2013.

    Given what those three have done for the sport, no, not really, I don't think there's 25 people who are more deserving.

    yes there are numerous to go around its the 25th anniversary of CI so I would guess there are 25 awards ;)

    There are plenty of people at grass roots level who have put in many years dedicated service as well who shouldn't be forgotten either.

    Done , and I've put Anto in as my third nomination . The same as many here I didn't write to CI about the McQuaid nomination so I won't bitch about the result .

    Criteria

    • Nominations must have made a significant national impact on Irish cycling on either the sporting or administrative side (contributions as an employee will not be considered);
    • Current competitors are not eligible;
    • It is open to both living and deceased persons.

    I reckon that most of the suggestions per Emma O'Reilly, Kimmage, Walsh etc. will be binned on the first criterion above.

    Might as well vote for Pat MCQuaid and hope he gets the award around the same time he gets exposed by LA. (wishful thinking)

    Done, I did not vote for the people Morana suggested but I did vote for Morana as one of my choices, the other was a grass roots member but I think he will be eligible, it would be my hope that with a large number of grass roots names put forward that the panel will realise that if they do not pick anyone specific that there should be special mention of those who have contributed so much to lift cycling Ireland off the ground and keep it there.

    Kimmage is an Irish 'Hall of Famer' for his bike riding alone:-
    Sixth in the amateur worlds on a flat tyre against big hairy Russians and East Germans.
    Rode and finished the Tour (clean).
    Rode and finished the Giro (clean and two places ahead of Bjarne Riis!).

    done (with reasons as to why) my email to the board after the USADA reasoned decision came out probably didnt count in the mcquaid affair.

    I would encourage all members of CI to participate.

    Alas, the "scheme" includes the following
    these nominations will be reviewed by a five person panel
    Which means there's every chance the membership's wishes will be ignored (again). However it's very important to nominate anyway - the more that participate the more difficult a position the Board will be in should some of their "non-favoured" candidates geta groundswell of opinion behind them

    There is also an opporunity (via the same link) to have your say on Cycling Ireland structures. I will be giving this some thought and making a submission on this also. I feel particularly strongly that there are serious corporate governance issues over the way the Board handled the McQuaid affair. This brings into question in my mind whether the current structure works in the best interests of the membership
