ok, the legacy needs a new set of boots all round. Considering going back to the Bridgestone Potenza RE050A that originally came on the car.
Can get a full set from camskill delivered & fitted locally for about €550 all in
    (215/45/17)

Have done a bit of googling though and came across this tyre (Vredestein Ultrac Vorti)
Only available from camskill in 225/45/17. Roughly same price as the Bridgestones.

Would it be ok to have a slightly wider tyre than whats recommended?
Also, anyone ever come across these before?
Tyrereviews.co.uk have them rated really highly

    Thanks

Have Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta on my car for the last 12 months, I think they have been superseded by the Ultrac Vorti. I find the grip and wear on the Ultrac Sessantas very good, only downside is that the side walls are fragile on the Sessantas but not sure about the Vorti.

Would have no problem recommending Vredestein as a tyre brand though, they are on the top end of the mid range tyre brand scale.

Remember that they are not only wider, but also higher.
Your speedo and odometer will show slightly less than on original tyres.

ya thanks for that, was aware it would slightly under read. However it has that normal over reading of about 8-10% anyway

Great tyre, had them for the last 10 months on the car. Super in the wet.

Not sure about Legacy but some cars with wider tyres will get "rubbing" on full lock.
There is a tiny decrease in mpg but handling improves.

I'm a Uniroyal fan but those look good indeed.

I'm on Geolandar ATS now and skidded on a slightly wet road for the first time in years, scary. This Forester is heavier than my old beamer though..

Looked at the Sessanta thread pics. I would imagine this tyre is a directional tyre and also specific for left and right side of car???

Camskill have them on special at moment for 225/45/17

Get a price from Carroll & Roche on the original fit for the car - is it a Legacy or an Outback?

I recently priced an Outback for a customer who only wanted like for like replacement for the Yokohama's that come as factory fit. They are only imported by Subaru, and have such a low wear rate (customer used to have an Outback, and his feedback was backed up by C&R) that it worked out cheaper to go for the Yokohama's rather than anything else in that size.

Can't remember any specific pricing or figures though.......

original tyres were the Bridgestones RE050A

got a price locally at €160 each fitted & balanced

Can get the same tyres from camskill shipped, fitted & balanced locally by a garage for €135 each

Its a legacy tourer (09 model)

Think I'll go with the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2's unless C&R can give me a serious good price on the RE050A's

    Cheers for the suggestion
