Clove.co.uk have, for a limited time, the HTC 8x for €323, the cheapest Ive ever seen it.

Cant link on mob, apologies, but its not too hard to track down on the site.
Its a fantastic phone that's unfortunately been overshadowed by the flagship Nokia Lumia 920. Real bargain at that price.

Anyone looking to take a break from the dull and uninspired iOS and Android interfaces are advised to jump on this deal.

Only till stocks last. Also, it'd be worth it to get a quote from Flubit and see if you can get it any cheaper.

Great phone, have had mine since it came out. Great camera, and hardware. The OS is good, great UI but ultimately is lacking in apps, which can make it a tad boring.

I had one of the first ones last November but changed it for the Samsung Ativ S. Mine was blue but it became very grubby quickly and the screen was made from chocolate after a week it was covered in scratches so bad that my 2 year old iPhone 4 was in better condition. I found the volume and power buttons hard to locate by touch and kept accidentally pressing the search key when holding the phone and using my thumb to navigate. Battery was terrible too never got a full business day without having to charge it.

I've since changed to the Ativ S and can't fault it(Battery is phenomenal) I tried the Lumia 920 too but it was just too heavy.

If the cheap price is worth the shortcomings then go for it otherwise I'd stay away as besides the hardware the software is 1.0 too.

    Yeah, the phone isn't flawless.
I find the battery manageable. I can go a full day easily as long as I keep browsing/videos/games etc. to less than a combined total of 3 or 4 hours. Its quick to charge though.

Another criticism I could lobby against it(admittedly, its a minor one), the hard buttons can be difficult to press. Its a short coming Ive learnt to overcome though, nothing too major.

And yeah, the Search button can be a little sensitive.
Apart from that, nothing to complain about for me, aside maybe from the selection of apps, but that's an OS issue and the situation is improving every day.

I've had the phone since about November.
Took a while to get used to the OS/shortcuts after moving from Android.

Don't know if I can agree with the comment made about the screen. I've only got one scratch on mine from dragging it across a table while face down and that's good going as it spends most of it's time in my pocket with a set of keys.

The phone itself is fast and once you're used to it you can navigate very quickly through the screens.
The only downside is apps really

My screen is totally intact too, you could mistake it for brand new.
I only have a poxy cover I got from eBay covering the body and its in perfect nick.

Have the 8S for work there is no way I'd recommend anyone getting one I presume most of these problems are in the X too, apps are atrocious, back and search buttons are incredibly annoying you hit them by mistake or don't bring you back to screen you want.

    No step by step navigation

Internet explorer is next to unusable and defaults to search on bing from address bar dunno if that can be changed I haven't been able to find it.

Email app is also terrible I delete emails by mistake all the time 1 click they're gone.

Also find the speaker not to be the best quality on calls can never hear people properly.

There were 150,000 windows phone apps at the end of last year. Not enough for ya? :pac:

(granted the other platforums have a lot more apps: iPhone 700,000 and Android heading for a million later this year)

Can't say I've ever experienced any of those problems really. You know about app switching when holding down the Back button right?

And I've never had an issue with IE10. It's zippy and lightweight and is a hell of a lot quicker than Chrome that I have for my tablet. It doesn't have back or forward buttons but that's certainly not the end of the world, you have the "Recent" tab.

I can't say I would recommend anyone getting a HTC either. Build quality is awful and if you have to deal with HTC support then god help you.

It's not quantity it's quality, hardly any of them are checked before going live most of them don't work or are just there to make money off ads, you obviously haven't tried to use any!

Actually as far as I know its a stricter process than Android. Though I do agree that the majority of apps are useless, and there is a lack of useful apps compared to iOS and Android.

As said though, most are pure muck.

Android apps aren't even checked. I could literally pay the 25e fee now and upload whatever I like. Its almost completely automated.

Its a stricter process on WP; all the apps go through certification.

Again though, agreed, the selection of apps cripples the platform sometimes. You have most of the staples but there's still a good few missing.

Thats even worse! Means they let all that absolute crap through, how are they ever gonna improve the quality. Even Viber isnt the same on windows.
