About a week ago, I was driving through the Inchicore/Kilmainham area. I am sure that I spotted a red kite! Has anyone else seen one in the city?

He may have gotten used to hunting along the railway line. Have seen a buzzard at Heuston

I have spotted a few buzzards around, right enough. I heard that the kites are regularly spotted around Celbridge, so it's not beyond the bounds of reason that they will find the way into the city.

I believe, and may have read somewhere, that they were common in Dublin in the 18th century.

Yeah, to the best of my knowledge they were common in cities like Dublin and London - plenty to scavenge on, especially back then! Would be great to see them more regularly throughout the city and south half of the county.
