PS Account

    PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

My son's playstation died so we had to restore default system.

When he tried to sign into his playstation account he couldn't remember his password. When we went through the 'forget password steps' he said that when he first set it up he just kept hitting next & ok so he has no idea what date of birth was used. Also his PS account is linked to an old O2 email address, which is now obsolete and can't be accessed.

Is there ANYTHING that we can do to get back into his account!

I don't know if you will to be honest. An invalid email address and you don't know the details associated with the account would be poor reason for a customer service agent to relinquish the account to you.

You could try of course but they'll probably ask questions about the account to confirm you're not trying to steal it, and if you can't answer them, its unlikely they will hand it over. An alternative approach might be to see if you can access the old O2 email address (which you should really have kept access to if all your playstation stuff was going to it).

Was there a credit card associated with the account either?

O2 disbanded the email service and I told my son to change his account details, but (surprise surprise) he never did.

There was a ton of things purchased using a credit card, but from what I know of the data protection Act, Sony can't store them-right?, the details were stored on the machine only??? Which has now been wiped :(

You can tick a box to allow them to store it so they may have.

PSN games were always locked to one account?

Do you mean can you share them over multiple consoles or with other accounts on the same console maybe?

If an account is active on the console then all other accounts can play it, there will be some Online sub stuff that won't transfer; subscriptions and certain access but normally all games will run.

Buy a PSN game and install it on 2 PS3s then play with 2 ( neither has to be the purchasing account) accounts simultaneously online/off.
