Problem with External Harddrive

I have an Iomega External 1TB Harddrive which is about 6years old now. It's has its own power source. I bought a 4TB Seagate multimedia drive for my tv and I want to copy all films from the Iomega drive to the Seagate multimedia drive. I have one folder in the iomega drive which is about 200GB of films, I tried copying it first to my laptop but an error message comes upon laptop display saying that there is a problem with drive and it needs to scan for issues. When you select ok, it tells me that I need to format drive before using, I can't do that as I have 1TB of stuff to transfer in total.

    Any solutions?

    Thanks
