Tyre blown - what replacement to get?

    Hi everyone,

Hit a kerb pretty heavily the other morning and my tyre blew out and I need to replace it. I'm going to head out to Halfords later on and have a look.

The tyres I had on were Giant S-X3 Puncture protect 700x32c's. Halford's have this tyre in-stock: Continental City Ride Hybrid Tyre which is the exact same size. Would this do the job?

What might seem like a stupid question but will I need to replace the back tyre too? I assume there's going to be some discomfort with having different types of tyres on front and back but would it be off putting?

Finally, I've always wanted to get thinner tyres, would I need to get new rims as well? Currently I have Giant GX02 rims.

Sorry for the basic questions :(

Is the tyre blown, or just the tube?

The kerb tore part of the tyre so definitely needs to be replaced. Tube exploded with a satisfying pop too.

Is the rim damaged at all?

These are pretty reliable, and they should fit your rim in 700/28: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/schwalbe-marathon-original-greenguard-rigid-road-city-tyre/

The continental tyre you linked to will fit your rim fine, as will the one Laundry_Hamper linked to. Having two different tyres won't be a problem and you don't need to change rims to change tyre size as every rim will accommodate a variety of tyre sizes.

Thanks for the suggestion. I ended up going to Halfords and just getting the one I originally linked to from the shelf. Sizing of the wheels is particularly confusing (didn't immediately realise that 700 x 32C = 32-622 = 28 x 1 5/8 x 1 1/4). No damage to the rim so replacing was nice and straightforward.
