    Anyone get this message before?

We have two tv's, one in each room, one is working fine, the other isn't working at all. Followed all of the on-screen instructions to no avail. Plugged out all the wires and plugged them back in, waited 3 mins, 5 mins and 30 minutes, still nothing. Haven't had it now for a few days.

Would I be right in thinking that it cannot be the dish as the other tv has no problems receiving the signal.

I assume you're talking about 2 boxes also. Swap the boxes around and that will give you an indication if the problem lies with the dish/cable or the box itself.

Hi you need to go into settings and reboot the whole box if its sky + box you will lose all that is saved unless you back up on external hard drive

Thanks guys, don't want to have to swap boxes around if I can avoid it, the wires are all in behind a wooden thing, it's too complicated. I will try the reboot, the tv that isn't working just has an ordinary sky box, not a sky+ (can't pause or record), does that matter? Miller50841 would you be able to tell me the steps to follow or will it be self explanatory if I go into settings?

See what your signal quality is like press services then 4 then 6 your signal quality should be above 70% or better if its around 50% you will get picture break up and loss.

Could be the cable from the dish, check all connections. It can happen that one connection is fine but another has come loose.Do this before you start planner rebuilds etc.

Just one thing, by doing a reset via settings, this won't have any effect on the other tv will it, I know they are two different boxes etc but if I do this while someone is watching the other one, there shouldn't be any interference, should there?

I had this problem 2 or 3 weeks ago on a sky+hd box, turned out to be a nick in one of the cables, water used capillary action to wick along the cable and into the box. Look at the end of the cables, mine where corroded.

Sky replaced the box and cable for a €10 service call after I haggled a bit. Also got 50% discount on my bill for the next year.

Yes they will charge you E100 for the pleasure, ring them and threaten to cancel and you will probably get it sorted for free.

Went through all steps on Sky site to try and solve problem...rang sky after arguing with them for a while best deal I could get was 100 euro call out fee reduced to 60 euro and they promise to sort problem.Fella on phone said not a hope of getting callout for less than that.

sometimes it might pay to call a local Independent installer, someone that's in your own town. If all it needs is a readjustment, not even 5minutes work, then you may pay less. Takes more time to setup ladders than actually do the work.
but usually I've found its not always a readjustment needed as dish is fine, but biggest problem I've come across is water in cable, lnb connectors.
So €60 is a good price in all fairness if it will cover everything.
