    I'd have the Clio.

Assume its the model that just ran out (05 to 13) as opposed to the Clio campus (1998 shape)

That 1.2 in the Polo was never great.

Oh sorry thought I post the price Clio is 4500. No ad online unfortunately it's a small little garage that mostly does service and repairs but sells on the side

My driving instructors car was a 2006 Clio. I thought It was a decent car back 2 years ago when I was learning to drive. The only thing I hate was the 1.0 litre engine it was a joke. But I'd imagine a 1.4 is nippy enough. As for reliability there's over 250k km on his and last time I heard he never spent a penny on it only routine servicing and bear in mind that car doesn't exactly have an easy life. So they seem to be a reliable car which renaults generally are its one or 2 models that seem to cause people to say all renaults are useless there not. I'd have no issue buying a 1.4 Clio I'd say it would be a nice car op and should serve you well.

Bp, the basic engine in the Clio is 1.2 :) must have been something wrong with the one you drove if it felt slow for a 1.0

Maybe it was a 1.2 I thought he said it was 1.0 litre but it was a while ago. It felt really sluggish to me to drive but then I'm used to diesel and was driving a 1.5 dci megane at the time which was so much quicker and it was the first and only petrol i have driven on the road. In saying all that I was only learning to drive so I wouldn't of exactly been driving it on either. Still I'd imagine the 1.4 that the op is looking at is a nice car. I'd prefer it to a polo anyway.
